Thought for the week – we posted something at the box about our outcomes last week – if you missed it – too bad. For this week we’d like you to ponder this: while a little cliche, thing of this: are you a Winnie the Poo or an Eeyore? When you walk into the gym, is your attitude positive toward what you CAN DO or focused on what you can’t do (maybe because of a knee or shoulder)? This is a different phenomenon from what we dealt with coaching young people – most of them came through the doors ready to work…dare we say excited to work! Trust us when we say how you enter your workout affects what you get out of it. Also, trust us when we say that almost EVERYONE in the gym (including your coaches) has pain, stiffness, etc. The difference is how we approach it – and how we approach it will affect what we get out of it. And a side note: consider how much harder it is on your coaches when you present with [insert body part here] hurts, is killing me, etc….versus, perhaps, what can I do to scale around [insert body part] – it’s on the fritz. We need a can do attitude to make progress…if you’re feeling Eeyore-ish…change your attitude before you walk through our doors.
