CONGRATULATIONS TO JANICE!

She took 2nd place in the Women’s 60+ division at the Tampa Bay Games on Sunday. No concessions for age here…here workouts included 15′ rope climbs, pull ups, toes to bar, 35# dumbbell snatches and lunges, a 1RM clean and jerk and heavy (50#) sandbag carries and squats. Additionally, Janice was the “eldest” in her division, as the 1st place winner was 8 years her junior!

The Tampa Bay Games put on an excellent event – schedule, judging, orientation – all top notch.

We do believe with a little better strategy, Janice could have taken that first place spot. Hindsight, but also a solid worklist that excites all of us for the next year.

We’re so proud of her composure, performance and sportsmanship. She introduced herself to all her competitors, made new friends and connections, and congratulated everyone in the end. As important, she LAID IT ALL OUT AND LEFT NOTHING on the competition floor. Ed and I (Sam here, obviously) continue to be inspired by the likes of performances like this by a 68 year old, and equally. a 78 year old or 88 year old working to perfect their burpee or lunge, both lifesaving shows of strength that help keep us living independently and more “carefree” into our later years.  We are not easily impressed, but lately we have been by the things we see around the gym and as a result of the real work that many of our friends and athletes are putting into their personal health and fitness.

Congratulations again to Janice. Well done, friend!
